Ex-Jay Lauer throws six scoreless innings in latest strong outing for Dodgers

Former Toronto Blue Jays starter Eric Lauer turned in another impressive outing for the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday night, holding the Minnesota Twins scoreless over six innings of work.

The veteran left-hander came on in relief in the second inning behind opener Will Klein and allowed two hits and one walk with two strikeouts in the Dodgers’ 2-1 win. Lauer lowered his ERA with the Dodgers to 2.54 in five appearances.

Lauer was instrumental in the Blue Jays success in 2025 but got off to a rough start this year and was originally designated for assignment on May 11. The Dodgers and Blue Jays worked out a trade for Lauer a few days later which saw Toronto send L.A. roughly $2.5 million.

Lauer’s ERA was 6.69 in eight outings with the Blue Jays this season. After his strong start to his time with the Dodgers, his mark on the season is down to 4.87.

Last year, Lauer turned in a 3.18 ERA and Blue Jays manager John Schneider referred to him as one of the team’s key pieces during the season on the way to the World Series.

“I think a change of scenery is good for everybody every once in a while,” Lauer told reporters in May after being picked up by the Dodgers.

“There’s a few mechanical things that I definitely want to work on, and that they’ve already kind of thrown out there as possibilities, so I think there’s a few different things that we can mess around with, try and tinker with a little bit.”

The 31-year-old is a veteran of eight big-league seasons and owns a career ERA of 4.19 in stints with the Dodgers, Jays, Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres.
