The Vegas Golden Knights have re-signed defenceman Rasmus Andersson to a seven-year, $59.5 million contract that carries a $8.5 million cap hit.
Andersson, 29, finished last season with the Golden Knights after he was acquired from the Calgary Flames on Jan. 18 in exchange for defencemen Zach Whitecloud and Abram Wiebe as well as two draft picks.
He recorded 17 goals and 47 points in 81 games last season split between the Golden Knights and Flames while averaging 23:12 of ice time.
Andersson added six assists in 22 playoff games while averaging 23:26 before his team was eliminated in the Stanely Cup Final
The 6-foot-1, right-shot defenceman is coming off a six-year, $27.3 million contract that carried a cap hit of $4.55 million.
Drafted 53rd overall by the Flames in 2015, Andersson has 64 goals and 278 points in 617 career games split between the Flames and Golden Knights.
The Malmo, Sweden native represented his country at The Winter Olympics in February, appearing in two games. He also represented Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off last season in a third-place finish.
