Rangers acquire F Dorofeyev from Golden Knights, sign him to seven-year, $77M deal

The Vegas Golden Knights have traded forward Pavel Dorofeyev to the New York Rangers in exchange for three draft picks.

Vegas received the No. 26 and 92 picks in Friday’s draft plus a conditional 2028 first-round selection.

The Golden Knights would trade down twice in separate deals before selecting Finnish defenceman Juho Piiparinen at No. 29.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported that the Rangers are signing Dorofeyev, who was a pending restricted free agent, to a seven-year, $77 million contract with an AAV of $11 million.

Dorofeyev, 25, registered 37 goals and 64 points in 82 games with the Golden Knights this season. He added 12 goals and 16 points in 22 playoff games before his team was eliminated in the Stanley Cup Final.

The 6-foot-1 winger is coming off a two-year, $3.67 million contract that carried a cap hit of $1.835 million.

Drafted 79th overall by the Golden Knights in 2019, Dorofeyev has 92 goals and 19 points in 231 career games.

The Nizhny Tagil, Russia native represented his country at the 2020 World Juniors in a silver-medal finish.
