Only weeks after smashing their transfer record, Crystal Palace is about to do it again.

BBC’s Sami Mokbel reports the Eagles have agreed to a deal in principle with Wolves for Norway striker Jørgen Strand Larsen for £50 million.

The team paid £35 million for Wales forward Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

Wolves have previously turned away interest in the 25-year-old Strand Larsen from both Newcastle and Leeds.

As Mokbel notes, the pursuit of Strand Larsen will cast doubt upon the future of France striker Jean-Philippe Mateta with the club. Mateta is reported to have told the Eagles that he wishes for a move. Mateta is signed through June of 2027.

A native of Halden, Strand Larsen initially joined Wolves on loan from Celta in the summer of 2024. His deal was made permanent this past July for a fee believed to be in the range of €30 million.

After 14 goals last season in the Premier League, Strand Larsen has just one in 19 appearances this campaign. Coincidentally, his lone marker this season came against Palace in November.

Internationally, Strand Larsen has been capped 24 times by Norway, scoring four times. He is widely expected to be a member of the Norway squad at this summer’s World Cup in North America.

Palace currently sits 15th in the table on 28 points. They return to action on Sunday with a visit to 17th-place Nottingham Forest.
