Thirty-six years after their first appearance at the World Cup where they lost all three matches and failed to score, Canada qualified for the 2022 World Cup but were once again knocked out in the group stage. Narrow defeats to Belgium and Morocco came either side of a 4-1 defeat v Croatia in which Alphonso Davies scored their first ever goal at the finals in just the second minute. They will now feature in consecutive finals for the first time.
Leading them as co-hosts is their first American head coach Jesse Marsch whose experience in the Premier League and Bundesliga should hold him in good stead. Lost his opening match 4-0 against Netherlands but drew 0-0 with France just a few days later before leading the Reds to 4th place at their first ever Copa America.
Will open their 2026 campaign at BMO Field in Toronto before two matches in Vancouver.
