The Caribbean Island with a population of just over 150,000 have become the smallest nation to reach the World Cup finals and its historical Dutch influence has continued to play its part on and off the pitch – several players were born in the Netherlands as was a famous face in the dugout.

Led by Dick Advocaat, who managed Netherlands at the 1994 World Cup and Korea Republic in 2006, he is set to become the oldest ever coach at the finals – he will be 78 in 2006, surpassing the record of 71-year-old Otto Rehhagel who was 71 when with Greece in 2010.

Curacao only gained country status in 2010 when it received autonomy from the Netherlands Antilles.
