Having been runners-up at the 2023 Asian Cup, Jordan have made history by qualifying for their first ever World Cup finals. Their previous best qualifying campaign came in 2014 when they reached the Inter-confederations play-offs only to lose 5-0 on aggregate v Uruguay.

Former Morocco international Jamal Sellami was appointed in summer 2024 – he featured once at the 1998 World Cup, coming on as sub in their 3-0 win v Scotland.

Star man Ali Olwan’s hat-trick secured their qualification with a hat-trick against Oman in June.
