Erling Haaland, Martin Ødegaard Norway

28 years after their last World Cup appearance ended in the Round of 16 at France 1998, an Erling Haaland inspired Norway have finally returned to the world stage.

Their last major tournament appearance ended in a group stage exit at Euro 2000 but they did appear at the 1994 World Cup in the USA, also failing to progress from the group stage.

Erling Haaland will carry most of their hopes – he has scored 55 goals in 48 caps, including a joint-UEFA record 16 in qualifying and will frighten any of the world’s greatest defences.

Head coach Stale Solbakken was part of their last World Cup squad, featuring twice in 1998.
