Tunisia qualified for their 7th World Cup with two matches to spare under the stewardship of Sami Trabelsi who captained the side at the 1998 finals in France.

The Eagles of Carthage are yet to progress from the group stage, once again falling at the first hurdle in 2022 where they failed to progress despite beating France 1-0 in the group stage (had previously lost to Australia and drawn with Denmark).
