Pendrith began on the back-nine Thursday and made bogey on two of his first three holes, but steadied himself to an even-par round the rest of the way. He bogeyed the seventh and eight holes down the stretch but rebounded with a birdie on No. 9 to close out his round and stay within striking distance.

Pendrith sat in a tie for 63rd at the conclusion of his round, five shots back of the lead at 3-under held by Aldrich Potgieter, Stephan Jaeger, Min Woo Lee and Jordan Spieth.
