Blue Jays’ Varsho out of starting lineup for second straight game

Published:

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho is not starting for the second straight game after leaving Friday’s game with wrist discomfort.

MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson reported on Saturday that Varsho is day-to-day with the injury. He left Friday’s series opener against the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth inning.

Varsho came in as a defensive replacement in centre field during Saturday’s 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles but did not record an at-bat.

Matheson reported Saturday that Varsho’s wrist injury is something he’s dealt with periodically going back to his time with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2020 to 2022.

The 29-year-old is slashing .256/.331/.408 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 62 games so far this season.

The Jays enter Sunday’s matchup at 31-34. They are tied with the Orioles for third in the American League East.
