Santiago Espinal’s second stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers is over.

The former Toronto Blue Jays infielder was designated for assignment on Tuesday with Tommy Edman’s activation from the injured list.

Espinal, 31, had been released by the team in late May, but he re-signed to a minor-league deal the following day.

A native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, Espinal appeared 36 games for the Dodgers this season. He batted .268 with 15 hits, a home run, seven runs batted in and an OPS of .651.

Originally drafted in 2016 out of Miami Dade College, Espinal spent the past two seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. He was an All-Star in 2022 with the Blue Jays with whom he spent the first four seasons of his career.
