Penguins sign F Chinakhov, three others to new contracts

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed pending restricted free agent Egor Chinakhov to a three-year, $18.75 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $6.25 million on Sunday.

Chinakhov, 25, finished the season with the Pittsburgh Penguins after they acquired him from the Columbus Blue Jackets in December of 2025 in exchange for forward Danton Heinen and two draft picks.

He registered 21 goals and 42 points in 72 games split between the Blue Jackets and Penguins and did not record a point in six playoff games.

The 6-foot-1 winger is coming off a two-year, $4.2 million contract that carried a cap hit of $2.1 million.

Drafted 21st overall by the Blue Jackets in 2020, Chinakhov has 55 goals and 113 points in 247 career games split between the Blue Jackets and Penguins.

The Omsk, Russia, native represented his country at the 2021 World Juniors in a fourth-place finish.

Penguins sign three more

The Penguins also signed goaltenders Arturs Silovs and Joel Blomqvist, and forward David Gustafsson to new deals.

Silovs signed a one-year, $2.8 million contract for the 2026-27 campaign.

The 6-foot-4 netminder went 19-12-8 last season with an .888 save percentage and 3.07 goals-against average with the Penguins.

He appeared in three playoff games, going 2-1 with a 1.52 GAA and .939 save percentage before the Penguins were eliminated in the first round.

Silovs was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in July of 2025 in exchange for forward Chase Stillman and a draft pick.

He is coming off of a two-year, $1.7 million contract that carried a cap hit of $850,000.

Drafted 156th overall by the Canucks in 2019, Silovs has a career 27-20-10 record with an .886 save percentage and 3.09 GAA split between the Canucks and Penguins.

Blomqvist, 24, was re-signed on a two-year, $1.75 million contract that carries a cap hit of $875,000.

He played last season with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, going 16-5-4 with a .913 save percentage and 2.40 GAA.

Gustafsson, 26, was a member of the Winnipeg Jets organization last season and played with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, recording 10 goals and 32 points in 48 games.

He was signed to a one-year, $850,000 deal.

The 6-foot-2, left-shot blueliner was drafted 60th overall by the Jets in 2018 and has six goals and 20 points in 149 career games.
