Newly minted WNBA All-Star Marina Mabrey and the Toronto Tempo are looking to snap a two-game losing streak as they continue their homestand against the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday night.

Mabrey was named an All-Star for the first time in her career on Tuesday. In 19 games with the Tempo, she is averaging 21.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists as Toronto is 9-11 in its inaugural season.

She delivered one of the biggest highlights of the entire WNBA season on June 25, when she tied the WNBA single-game record with a 53-point performance against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Tempo have dealt with a lot of injuries this season with Brittney Sykes, Kiki Rice and Temi Fagbenle currently out while the likes of Nyara Sabally, Isabelle Harrison and Julie Allemand have all missed time with injuries.

The Tempo are coming off an 89-76 loss to the Dallas Wings on Sunday. Paige Bueckers, who won Rookie of the Year in 2025, had 22 points and seven assists as the Wings never trailed in the contest.

Toronto will face a Golden State team tonight that has won five straight games, a stretch that included beating the Atlanta Dream three times as well as the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics.

Gabby Williams has delivered in her first season with the Valkyries after signing a three-year, $3.7 million contract as a free agent in the off-season.

She is averaging a career-high 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists this season and was named an All-Star for the second straight year and a starter for the first time.

Veronica Burton, who won WNBA Most Improved Player last year in Golden State’s inaugural season, is averaging a career-high 12.3 points with 3.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists.
